I have been wanting to start a blog.  Now, I have someone that will hold me accountable, so I must blog!  I grew up in a fairly large city and then moved to a small town.  I went to Kansas State University and met the guy that would change my life, Dale. Let's say he was a little different than I was used to.  He was an aggie through and through.  Since I met him my views of agriculture have been expanded.

I live on a small cattle ranch in Southeast Kansas.  My kids love living in the country.  I love that they are learning a good work ethic and responsibility at a fairly young age.  They help feed any bottle calves that we may have and they also care for their 4-H animals.

Having a daughter in High School this year, I am learing a lot about FFA.

The first line of the FFA creed begins, "I believe in the future of agriculture with a faith born not of words but of deeds."  We live in a time where everything seems uncertain.  The economy is sitting on a bubble, prices are going up, and the political climate is a little harsh right now.  But I still see the future of agriculture.  Americans only spend about 10% of their income on food, that right there is a tribute to American agriculture.  We have the cheapest and safest food supply in the world due to American ingenuity and the blessings of God.  There are nearly 7 billion people on this wonderful planet.  We have the knowledge and the ability to feed them all.  Through new farming techniques, genetics and seed varieties we have been able to increase our agricultural production with fewer acres.  I am confident that in the future we will be able to continue to feed the world.  In the blogs to come I hope to convey to you how this is possible and how living in rural America has added a lot of excitement to my life.
